The Squaw Valley Ski Resort has been known for half a century to be one of the largest skiing areas in the whole of United States. It made its first mark in the world map when the valley successfully won the bidding to host the 1960 Winter Olympics Games. Although Squaw Valley Ski Resort is only the second largest ski resort in Lake Tahoe after Heavenly, it is considered to be the most equipped ski resort among the two, providing funitels to ferry the skiers as well as high speed chairlifts.

Sitting at 8,900 feet high the ski resort has installed 33 lifts in different locations to cater to the various types of skiers. The valley provides a range of skiing entertainment for its vacationers including half pipes, open terrain parks, big air and snow tubing especially made for skiers.

With the average snowfall of 37.5 feet each year, the Squaw Valley Ski Resort is deemed to be the best skiing location in the United States and many winter sporting events were held there such as the infamous Winter X-Games by ESPN. The Squaw Valley’s favourite son, Nate Holland, has also competed in the 2009 Winter X-Games and made his hometown proud by winning the Men’s Boardercross for a record of four years in a row!

For vacationers who are less adventurous and less sporty, there are also other snow activities that they can participate in like ice skating at the rink, snow tubing, sledding, hop on the cable car ride to view the entire Squaw Valley Ski Resort as well as snowshoe tours with the whole family.
